In the year 1999, it appeared that the barbering industry was fading away. Despite this, Donnie Hawley, the passionate founder of Layrite, continued to strive for perfection in his clients' haircuts. He faced challenges with the traditional petroleum-based products his clients used, which were difficult to rinse out. Donnie refused to limit style but was dedicated to maintaining a high standard of barbering. He worked tirelessly to find a solution, eventually developing a water-soluble pomade that could “Hold Like Wax and Wash Out Like Gel.”

When one of Donnie's clients remarked that his pomade was the only product that made his hair lay right, the Layrite brand was born. Since then, Layrite Men's Grooming Products have been at the forefront of traditional barbering and men's grooming. Our products have been widely imitated, but never duplicated, and have become the go-to brand for barbers worldwide seeking quality and authenticity.
